Some of you know me as Mistral, others as Jan or Janice. No matter how you know me, you're more than welcome to browse my journal for my artwork, or for my latest babbles on birds, videogames, anime, or any given topic within the subjects of ecology philosophy.
I have a bit of an interest in birds. Just a little bit ^^ While I aim to study avian ecology professionally, most references here in my journal are of the non-scientific nature. There's no place in my research for finding birds interesting because they are pretty, or because they stir emotions from the depths soul that words cannot describe, but there's plenty of room for that here! Who says I can't be a scientist and a romanticist? Birds are a major part of my identity, after all. I am also an avid birder with a life list that has grown exponentially since my transplant in the southwest. If you want to compare notes, or share some RBAs (most of which I glean from Audubon and insert-state-herebird.org websites), feel free to give me a holler!
Dragons identify me too, of course. They are the focal point of my spirituality and a major means of self expression. Not to mention, they're just plain awesome ^^
I am a huge, huge geek, and proud of it! I love anime, videogames, fantasy movies and novels. I doodle geeky fan art, wear geeky screen print shirts, and collect geeky things. Geek-outs have been limited thanks to the 24/7 work load of grad school, but that's okay.
